Frequently Asked Questions

Everything contractors ask us before signing up

What is PermitSweep?

PermitSweep is a search tool built for contractors. One forgotten permit can put your license on hold - PermitSweep searches every connected jurisdiction under your company name or license number and shows you what's open, expired, or clear, all in one place.

Which states and jurisdictions do you cover?

We currently cover 325+ jurisdictions across Washington and Oregon, with new states launching regularly. Check our coverage map for the full jurisdiction list and status for your area.

How does a search actually work?

Enter your company name or license number and PermitSweep checks every covered jurisdiction simultaneously. You watch each jurisdiction check in real time - no waiting on a spinner for a cached result. Results show open permits, expired permits, and clear jurisdictions, and you can export to CSV if you need a paper trail.

What's the difference between the Contractor and Portfolio plans?

Contractor ($199/yr) covers a single contractor or license, with weekly and monthly digest emails and access to every connected jurisdiction. Portfolio ($299/yr) includes everything in Contractor plus a client roster - manage up to 12 client licenses under one account with a single digest covering your entire roster.

Is there a free trial or demo?

Yes. Our demo lets you run searches without creating an account, subject to search caps. Try it at permitsweep.com/demo.

Can I cancel, and what's your refund policy?

You can cancel anytime from your account settings. Subscriptions renew automatically each year unless canceled at least 3 days before your renewal date. Canceling stops future billing but does not refund the current paid period. Full terms are in our Terms of Service.

Is my data secure? Do you sell my information?

We collect only what's needed to run your account and searches, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties. Permit records themselves come from public government databases - we don't create or alter them, and we don't warrant they're complete or current. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

How often is permit data updated?

Searches run live against each jurisdiction when you search - not a stale cached snapshot. Digest emails then check your watched licenses on the schedule you choose, weekly or monthly, so you don't have to remember to check manually.
